BIG Truck

This is Alaska. Wait....wait.... there! Now it is sunny! Wait...Wait... Now it is 80 mile winds with rain.
(smile)

Fun morning. I love big trucks and machinery. No clue why, just do. They pick-up, push around, haul, dump, grind, smooth, and many other things I cannot do with stuff that weighs 1000 lbs or more. For example:

Dump truck with 3 tons of 5/8ths crushed rock no findings. I even know what all that means. (Wink)

My first video. I did not know you have to format the orientation before you take it off the camera. Lesson learned. :)

What is all this rock for? Our next plan is to disguise the house by leveling out the sidewalk. Everyone knows the Anderson door is approached on an incline that demands your attention and a working knowledge of physics. When they step on this new sidewalk; the shock of a level sidewalk will confuse them, and they will wonder where they are.

The lake has started to turn and wend her way to fall. It is a sort of meander, slow sort of idle. Most of the blooms have been made, the fireweed has bloomed and fluffed to the top. Most of the energy has been spent.

 The loons have been very active; early one morning last week I listened while a couple of adults were tutoring a chick on something, probably the flight south. Parents giving driving lessons are always a little tense especially when the child is extremely confident. All three of them were loud, rapid fire, and terse in their communications; I interpreted the conversation went soemthing like this.
Parent: It is a long trip. 
Chick: I don't wanna go.
Parent: You HAVE to pace yourself.
Chick: SPEED think SPEED
Parent: You must PLAN.
Chick: Is SHE going on the trip?
Parent: YOU must stay with the group.
Chick: (YAAAWWWWNNN)
Parent: WATCH out for predators.
Chick: Did you see that gosling!? What a doofus!
Parent: Sleep with ONE eye open.
Chick:  ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz....


Meanwhile the humans have been busy, busy, busy.

Okay this is the plumbing before David cleaned it up. View is from the furnace room looking into the bathroom. We demolished the bathroom  to the studs, cement pad and joists. The big white cabinet that was in the furnace room is gone.

 What was in the half wall? BIG pipe with teal  paint on it.  All things considered, we did not move the pipe.

David created the in-wall double cabinet with the towel rack under it. I have totally given up on towel rods. The hooks don't fall off, or bend, or break. They do hold a lot of stuff!

This gives you a look at the glass block window, the Swan Stone shower inclosure and the Light teal and dark teal paint scheme.

I call it "the tree". We wrapped the pipe in a thin yet dense insulation and the David built this beautiful maple box around it. The  hooks that hold various things are the "branches". The room does feel more open than it did before. You can also see here the  appliances are all white, the sink is a pedestal, and the floor is porcelain tile.

Sorry for the orientation. It is correct in my file, this blog would not download it right. Turn you head and you can see the mirror and shelf that David created . Alon with a branch of the tree holding a washcloth and a happy little plant.

Shelf over the toilet. With stuff. This bathroom is hook intensive to provide storage and organization.

Overall it is still a snug little bathroom, with lots of hooks, a pretty paint job, some gorgeous carpentry.

This is WORK!

I just spent the better part of 3 hours setting up this blog ...... thing! (smile)
I have a few more sites to add on and then it's just rattle on about what ever wanders my way and I fall over.
I have some pics here of parts of the remodel. Still trying to catch-up. Also a few pics of some of the knitting I've been doing. And a few flowers....maybe a bug or two. (wink)

This is the new fireplace. Dad had to cut the long table in half. We routed the chimney through the shop and up into the  camping closet in the parlor.  David also cut out part of the carpet and cemented down tile to rest the fireplace on. The chimney is 92% efficient and produces a lot of heat. Looks real pretty when it burns too.

Okay. So here is the truck that brought the lumber for the roof. It is also the truck that lifted everything up on the roof.The crew was really kind. The took great pains to not smash my iris's and flower box.

You can see the big evergreen in the back.

So they lifted there sets of trusses up over and in-between the blue house and our home.

They got really high!!

They cleared the blue house roof by about 20 feet.

And then moved them over to our roof where the crew un-hitched them and spread the out to attach them to the  roof. You can see here they have removed all of the awnings and materials from the hot mop. They informed dad that they found the ants nest inside the old roof.

Here you  can see the trusses spread out. They were able to attach them and then they had to cover it all with wrap. We had rain for about a week before they could get back to finishing it.

Yes... I know, it has been two years since the last post.
So let me do one project at a time...
The Laundry Room

This is the new Utility Tub and the New Washer. For some reason Dad and Tasha were not happy with the vintage  green Maytag we had.

This is the wall common with the Furnace room. Lots of hooks to hang stuff....LOTS of stuff.

Opposite wall and the wonder shelving for more stuff. The color on the paint can says Acorn. Feels more like you are walking into a light colored pumpkin.

We have been using the room for over a year now and it is wonderful!
I have been accenting with a bright lime green.
it looks better than it sounds.    (smile)
